Wyre Archaeology

Wyre Archaeology is a group of amateur archaeologists that focuses on active field work in Wyre, Fylde, Preston and the surrounding area. Our aim is to encourage people in the local community to explore and value their archaeological and historical heritage.

Our regular meetings are currently suspended but we hope to recommence soon (at a new venue in Great Eccleston).

Please visit our website and Facebook page for more information.

What we do:

We conduct excavations and other field activities to investigate local archaeology and history. Our activities cover Central and N-West Lancashire including Preston, Fylde, Wyre and the surrounding area. In normal times we have a regular meeting on the 3rd Wednesday each month. We welcome anyone and everyone to this warm, friendly group.

Activities:

Most people, at all ages and levels of fitness can take part. We provide basic training and essential equipment. Excavations are necessarily conducted outdoors but we can provide a shelter if required. Our digs are COVID-secure as required by law.
