Winmarleigh Young Farmers Club
Led by young people, for young people, Young Farmers Clubs are voluntary organisations providing anyone aged 10 to 26 with opportunities to meet lifelong friends, learn new skills, and make a difference to their local community.
What we do:
Originally formed to provide a type of agricultural apprenticeship, individual Young Farmers Clubs were formed locally with the focus on the keeping of growing and living things including calves, pigs, poultry, bees and gardens. Clubs in Lancashire date back to the 1920’s, with the County Federation being formed in 1938, just before the outbreak of World War II. In Lancashire there are 17 local Young Farmers clubs providing opportunities for over 700 young people. Each club has an elected Management Committee of young people who are supported by past members. Young Farmers is probably one of the only youth organisations to allow young people to develop under their own management through this democratic structure.Activities:
