Tess Reddington

Purple Umbrella supports people with disabilities, their families and support staff to lead full and active lives and take part in meaningful daytime activities. Our philosophy is that whether you are a PA/support worker, a family member or carer or the person supported, we are all in a better place with mutual help and support from our peers. We generally meet between 2 and 4 pm. £5 annual membership and activities free or just a small contribution.

What we do:

Here at Purple Umbrella, we support each person, regardless of level of ability or disability, to join in, make friends and feel included. Some groups are just for fun or exercise; others provide opportunities to learn new skills or volunteer. The people we support generally need space and time to settle in, and to be listened to, so groups are small and activities are designed with each person in mind. We are particularly for people who access direct payments. We operate on co-operative lines. We have a £5 membership fee and then either no or very low session fees. Enquiries welcome.

Activities:

Communication Group, key word signing (Makaton/Signalong) & using electronic voice aids. Fun and Fit - Art Group Buddying up for days out and events Gardening (coming soon) Volunteering
