South West Lancashire Independent Community Advice Network (ICAN)
(ICAN) Provides FREE quality independent welfare rights, employment law and IT support, we are a registered Charity based in Skelmersdale, that supports the Community of West Lancashire and beyond. We provide a range of services aimed at supporting older people, disabled, unemployed, employed and those on a low income. We aim to lift people away from the poverty trap and improve their personal and financial wellbeing by ensuring they receive all the benefits and support they are entitled to.
What we do:WE ARE OPEN We provide one to one advice and form filling support on the full range of welfare benefits. We also provide IT support at our learning centre which is also registered as a Learn My Way Centre offering a large range of free online courses, CV writing, job search as well as many other areas of advice and support. We provide outreach services at Ormskirk and Burscough as well as home visits for those who find it hard to leave their home. We work in partnership with many organisations with a view to ensuring our clients get the right support from their first visit. Last year we recovered over £2million pound in benefits and employment payments for our clients. We are open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
Activities:We run Free Know Your Rights FREE Courses in Health and Social Care and Welfare Rights, throughout the year. Now available online as interactive live courses, delivered via Zoom - contact us to book in for for further details.
