Preston Panthers DSC (Disability Sports Club)
We are a multi sports club for children and young people aged 5 – 25 years old and their siblings. We meet every Saturday for a swim 4- 5 pm and then a dry sports session 5.15- 6.45pm. The cost is £6 to take part in both sessions or £2 for swim and £5 for dry sports. We are self funding and have a very diverse membership ( where abilities are concerned) and every year we aim to use the subs collected and members go on an outward bounds trip to the Lake District Calvert Trust.
What we do:The benefits of encouraging children and young people to keep active are immense and create good habits into middle and late adulthood. The group experience a range of difficulties, yet, they all join together as they want to make a difference with the people they meet. It's activities based, helps support understanding of different disabilities and improves social skills. The parents also get time to share what has worked for them and have a little break. We promote a relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to take part in anything you don't want to and we try a tailor sessions to the children and young adults who turn up. All our coaches are qualified and volunteers hold current valid DBS certificates.
Activities:Football, badminton, boccia, tennis, basketball, cricket, free play (usually for younger members), swimming.
