PeerTalk Preston (Central)
Our PeerTalk peer support group is for anyone facing depression, anxiety or similar.
Led by two trained facilitators, the strength of the group is in the support offered, which comes from others who know the experience of mental/emotional challenges. They are well placed to offer empathy, support, and practical suggestions that might help the others who come along.
What we do:We’re very clear about what the group is, and more importantly what it isn’t: the purpose of the group is not to ‘treat’ depression, it isn’t therapy, it’s a support group, from which those that come along can draw strength from the knowledge that they’re not alone, a place where they’re heard, valued and accepted as they are, aside from the practical help they might receive.
Activities:The activity is a shared discussion within a facilitated group meeting setting. After the meeting, tea and coffee is available. We don't talk about what was discussed during the meeting, as that's over, but we do chat and get to know each other.
