Offshoots Community Garden

Offshoots is based in the old wall kitchen garden at Towneley Park. It is part of Newground, the charitable arm of Together Housing, a large housing association which covers Lancashire and Yorkshire. Our aim is to use the gardens to promote and encourage health and well being and community involvement.

What we do:

Offshoots is an acre community garden tucked away in Towneley Park, Burnley. We are a hub for volunteering and community sessions with a focus on environmental sustainability and how we can change the ways we live for the benefit of ourselves, our families and our communities. The site is made up of growing beds, polytunnels, a traditional lean-to greenhouse, timber yard, wood workshop, children’s mud kitchen play area, beehives with a viewing area and lots of beautiful corners to explore and relax in. You can join in with gardening for bees to improve pollination; learn and develop simple woodworking skills using recycled resources; practise organic, seasonal food growing; meet new people and improve your physical and mental health.

Activities:

Volunteering sessions include: - General site maintenance & DIY - Meet and greet the public; buddying - Seed sowing, learning about plants and Permaculture principles - Learn new skills - gardening, woodwork, D.I.Y - Grow organic, seasonal food
