Friends of Rossendale Museum at the Whitaker
The Friends support Rossendale Museum at the Whitaker with a variety of activities including funds for conservation work, education, equipment, refurbishment and grant applications. Over £50k has been raised in recent years.
Rossendale Museum is housed in the Whitaker which is set in a beautiful park at the centre of the Rossendale Valley. This ‘little gem’ was originally built in 1840 and rescued from closure in 2013. See the Whitaker website for details and current development plans.
What we do:
We have a lively programme of monthly talks on a variety of topics of local and general interest with guided summer walks, visits to other museums and an annual dinner. Talks are at the Whitaker at 7.30pm on the 4th Thursday of each month, admission to non-members is £2. Activities are currently suspended as the Whitaker is closed for major refurbishment works and is expected to re-open in Spring 2021.Activities:
