Friends of Pendle Heritage
Our aim is to encourage people to visit Pendle Heritage Centre, to visit the Museum and Garden and the cafe and the shop. We also try to interest people in the heritage of of North East Lancashire and our own corner in particular. Any profit we make goes to help with the running of Pendle Heritage Centre, the Museum there no longer receives any outside help from local government.
What we do:We have a monthly programme of interesting talks over the winter period, that cover diverse subjects and a huge time span. Over the year we have walks around our local area and our archaeology group - Pendle Archaeology Group (PAG) have field walks throughout the year and usually have about one dig per year, to try and discover more of what lays beneath our feet in our local areas. There is also a small Gardening Group that meets once a month except in winter. We have at least one trip out per year if not more and an annual residential of about 3 nights. We visit a lot of diverse places from the Isles of Orkney to a guided walk around Ribchester to the Anderton boat lift in Cheshire and Roman remains near Malton.
Activities:• A variety of talks and walks • Local visits to places like Martholme Grange and trips further afield. • We have an active archeology group - currently planning to survey and find our more about the Roman Road locally. • A small Gardening Group
