Friends of Jubilee Gardens Cleveleys

Our group was set up in 2016 to regenerate Jubilee Gardens, an area of parkland next to the sea front at Cleveleys near Blackpool, for the benefit of the local community and visitors.

Our meetings often take place on a Tuesday evening and outdoor activities have been on a Friday morning

What we do:

We hold meetings every few weeks throughout the year and during the Spring and Summer months, have regular weeding, planting and litter picking sessions to maintain and enhance the appearance of Jubilee Gardens. Last year, we held these sessions every other Friday for a couple of hours, but haven't been able to do anything recently because of the Corona virus. We took part in Cleveleys in Bloom last year. From time to time, we hold fundraising events to raise money for small improvements and have bought new park benches and planters. We work with Wyre Council on fundraising for bigger projects: there will shortly be some major improvements to the childrens play areas as a result of our efforts

Activities:

Apart from the meetings, our activities are mainly outdoors. Gardening is very therapeutic for both physical and mental well being: you can do as much or as little as you want and it doesn't involve any heavy lifting.
