Friends of Highfield Park – Blackpool
The Community Gardening Group is open to all ages. It is also known locally as the #GreenGym – for a good reason, as you will feel like you have had a good workout even if you join us for only half an hour.
However at the moment the group are unable to meet up due to the Covid Pandemic. All the team are very friendly, like to chat and their enthusiasm is infectious, so we hope you will join us once we are all allowed to meet up again.
What we do:Usually we meet once or twice a week (weather dependant) at 10am on a Monday/Weds and/or Friday. We weed the beds and borders within the Community Garden ( an area that used to be a bowling green). We also plant bulbs and shrubs, some which the Friends buy out of funds and also some that are donated by park visitors. We only garden if it is dry and warm enough, if unsure whether to pop along, give Karen a ring. We work with the children from the local kiddies nursery to plant bulbs and vegetables. It is usually a busy morning as there is always something to do but we do try to stop for a cuppa. At the moment all gardening is on hold, due to the Covid Pandemic.
Activities:Gardening, chatting to visitors and generally enjoying the outdoors while working together in groups
