East Lancs Clarion Choir
We are a Clarion Choir based in Burnley but welcoming members from the neighbouring towns. We set up to celebrate the Clarion tradition of singing as a part of radical campaigning although our songs are not restricted to that tradition. We sing to enhance other events. e.g. the Canal Festival, Burnley May Day, Clarion Tea House Events.
We meet on a Wednesday evening in term times between 7.30 and 9.00 to learn songs
What we do:
We are a mixed unaccompanied (acapella) singing group who support each other to learn songs by ear. We are led by a skilled musical director who is part of the Natural Voice Network. The Natural Voice network believes that everyone has a voice and that we can all sing. We learn, practice and sometimes perform songs for fun, laughter and the joy of singing. Our songs include songs about peace, justice ,human rights and environmentalism. We start with a warm-up session to warm up our bodies and our voices. These can be undertaken sitting down. we learn simple rounds first and eventually learn and sing songs in 4 part harmony.Activities:
We meet indoors in a large school hall. No fitness is required. The warm up session usually involves some physical exercises to loosen up and relax our bodies. We will do some simple call and response work to loosen up our voices.Links:
